You know when your driving down the road and you pass other cars and always wonder how that car would do in a derby? Yea I know everyone does it ;D SO...what are some modern day cars that you think will end up becoming good compact derby cars? I personally think the 2003 style monte carlo's look very strong to use. Even though they are unibody, they are way too long to ever make it into the compacts?? I've also thought maybe a 2008 ford focus? The rear wheel doesnt have much clearence for the trunk to fold in. But It doesnt look like it would plow in the back. I also have high hopes for the modern Ford Taurus... Like the 2008 Taurus seen in this crash test video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q68rsm9FwpY&feature=BFp&list=FLaJnfHKaloFfViPATgpkEsAWhat is everyone else's thoughts on future compacts?

What year is your Ranger.
I'm currently in the market for a mini truck to crash and Rangers are on my "wanted" list.

Some pics would be great. Neither of those trucks are on my list, as I've never seen the results. Mini trucks are a new concept here and are being tried for the first time this year. Won't know about size restrictions til after the promoter's monthly meeting Feb 1. So far my list is: Ranger, Explorer, Bronco 2, S10, S10 Blazer, Luv, Comanche, Cherokee, Wagoneer. Not sure yet if Dakota/Durango will be small enough. Kinda hope so, cuz I think I have a 2000 ish Dakota coming in soon...abandoned at a local business about a month ago. I have an S10, but I kinda want to keep it around as a parts car for my driver.
Thanks.
I will only be going to one event that has the mini trucks. I don't know what all will be there, but I do know to expect at least one Wagoneer and one Mighty Max.
All of our tracks around here are rodeo arena's, so a noser would be preferable.

That pic is after 4 runs?
The track mine would be going to is pretty big & gets crazy fast at times.
Still don't know anything about rules either. They were thinking about a softer, simpler build, but wanted more driver's input before deciding.
I am taking a compact car to that show as well. The compact rules there are stiffer than anywhere else around. Luckily, they are gonna let me shorten my leftover Blizzard Bash car to fit 105, and finish building it to run there. But the compacts there are one & done. The mini trucks will be, too, so there's no reason I couldn't do both.

Wish the rules were done. The suspense is killin' me.
On topic, I'm a little curious about the newer GTO's.

c4 mine is a 99 but they are the same 98-00, im not sure if the frames differ between the other bubble style 93-97 and 01-03.
and i like the leaf pack inder that ranger, and did he run a 8 inch or a mustang 8.8 under it, it looks like a 4 lug to me.

the 97-99 escorts and early 00's focus wagons are very hard in the assend. Front end is pretty good, but bumper swap is a must.
